The Science of Brewing Cordyceps Tea

So you have your mushrooms, now how to use them to their fullest potential? Members at Bastyr university have ran tests with our cordyceps and found some really exciting results that have been consistent over the last two years of study. testing fresh vs. dried, water temperature and brewing time. Studies have concluded that it is better to boil the dried mushrooms for 15 minutes, covered. Longer steep times degraded the compounds and shorter times did not extract nearly enough. If tea is the preferred means of obtaining these vital compounds, we recommend 0.5 gram of 100% fruiting bodies per day. This amount will make a strong 12 oz cup of tea, but you can be flexible with the water volume and increase if desired. The trick to getting a quality, functional mushroom tea is getting it right.

Enhance your tea with tincture*

Another option to get all the benefits and make a super powerful Cordyceps tea is to add a few drops cordyceps tincture.* Our mushrooms have also been tested at Bastyr for optimal alcohol extraction methods. In short, the results showed that the cordyceps tincture with 60% alcohol was the most potent. Once we received the data, we changed our methods and noticed a difference in power immediately! With the tincture, you get more compounds from the mushroom. Our ready-to-drink tinctures have been combined with a concentrated infusion (which is a fancy word for strong tea) for full-spectrum benefits. Whether you prefer Cordyceps tea or tincture, both are great ways to extract your cordyceps to get the most out of them, as long as you extract them with research in mind!
